The First Day of Summer
Summer is girls that are mirrors
even when separated by oceans and rivers,
The advice you know I wont take
and teaching me how to bake
(my face, and cakes, and things I can’t say…)
The girls that don’t need a code
The girls that only ever have to “say the word”
Summer is the blind leading the blind
And arguing about directions
Discreetly bringing out Shazam
And starting a Spotify jam
the ping pong of IOUs, I miss yous
And we should do this again,
I don’t want this night to end
Sharing locations and
“text me when you’ve reached your destination”
This is for the 20 that says in circulation between me and my home girls
To the crashing out over lameos
And chasing the end of the rainbow
For the nights that feel like fever dreams
And dodgy places we never want to leave
For the temporary tan lines
and the permanent smile lines.
